Healthy Brussels Sprouts in 6 Minutes
Brussels sprouts have grown in popularity in the past few years as people have increasingly been made aware of the vegetable’s health benefits. A member of the Brassicaceae family, brussels sprouts are closely related to other healthy and trendy vegetables like kale and cauliflower. There are many ways to cook brussels sprouts - but some methods such as roasting or frying, can add unhealthy oils and turn a healthy vegetable into an unhealthy dish. This recipe will teach you to cook a delicious steamed, healthy, oil-free brussels sprouts dish in only six minutes. Ingredients

½ - 1 lb brussels sprouts

Water
-
Lemon wedges
How to Cook Healthy Brussel Sprouts in 6 Minutes

Trim the ends of sprouts.

Make a small cut in the shape of the x on the flat bottom of the sprouts.

Remove any damaged or dark green outer leaves.

Place trimmed sprouts in a colander and rinse under cold water.

Transfer the strained, trimmed sprouts to the steamer insert and set them aside.

Fill a medium saucepan with 2 cups of water.

Place the medium stockpot on the stove, turn the stove to high heat and bring the water to boil.

Carefully put the steamer insert into the pot and cover.

Steam for 6 minutes.
The brussels sprouts are done when you can slide a small knife in and out easily. After they are finished, plate immediately and eat with a lemon squeeze or Oil-Free Roasted Garlic Sauce with Cashews, or let them cool and add to a salad.
